Layer of clay, very compact, all around the stone pavement f132. This layer is slightly sloping toward the center of the room. It is abutting the walls around the pavement forming a sort of basin and probably the stone pavement f132 was built later on top of this layer. The clay layer is clearly abutting the west wall f92, the southern f127 and the eastern f152, but only partially the north row of vertical bricks. Between the stones of the pavement f132 there is a sort of mortar made of clay really similar to f150, but that could be put at the same time of the stones. It is also probable that there was a repair in a second moment because in the west part of the room, next to the wall, the clay covers the stones, and in the north part this layer is less compact and constituted of a more reddish soil, similar to the baqaia. This clay layer is also present in the passage between the walls f86 and 152, perhaps a doorway. [Input: S901LC.j] |
