Overview

Phase 3m is the most significant phase of the Temple Terrace. It is dated to the Early Dynastic III period based on ceramic analysis of the J6, J2, J3, J1 and J5 units. The EDIII J6 structures are indicated in red. This phase covers a long period during which the structures were constructed and first used.

Stratigrapy

The terrace revetment wall and the staircase flank wall are constructed at the beginning of this phase. Both walls were exposed down to the bottom. We made one-metre-wide window to expose the full height the southern half of staircase flank wall. It is clear that the wall has been constructed on top of a slope, with the northern part being lower in height than the southern part.
Glacis f300 abuts the terrace revetment wall, the staircase flank wall and wall f227. We recorded an early EDIII dump f200 covering wall f227 and Glacis f300. This event signs the end of the use of wall.
