Types of contact among features
5. To cap or to sit in

Caitlin Chaves Yates – January 2011

The frequency of the type of contact “to cap or to sit in” can be attributed solely to “to sit in”. This type of contact occurs for two reasons. The first, is the presence of floating stones in the upper accumulations. These stones sit in a larger accumulation. The second reason for the high frequency of use is the large volumetric features. Because the features were about 50cm in depth and covered whole loci often smaller features were identified within these features and necessitated the use of the type of contact “sits in.”
