This paper in Czechoslovak summarises many aspects on Urkesh/Tell Mozan: in the introduction, the author retrieves the path toward the identification of the ancient site with the modern tell, starting from M. Mallowan’s survey and later moving to Buccellati’s and Kelly-Buccellati proper excavations.
The most relevant structures are briefly described: Temple BA, Tupkish’s Palace and the ābi.
Very interest are the quotations (on pp. 68-69) of some Hurro-Hittite rituals, found in the Hittite capital and telling the performing of sacral activities with could be connected with the necromantic pit at Mozan: 1) KBo 11.14 = CTH 395, defined on the Hethitologie Portal Mainz as Ritual der Ḫantitaššu von Ḫurma: wenn die Jahre eines Menschen verstört sind 2) KBo 2.3 = CTH 404 (Rituale der Maštigga von Kummanni); 3) KUB 12.44 = CTH 392 (Ritual der Anna von Kaplawija gegen unfruchtbare Weingärten); 4) KUB 29.4+ = CTH 481 (Die Expansion des Kultes der Göttin der Nacht).
[NB: the aforementioned abbreviations refer to KBo = Keilschrifttexte aus Boğazköy, Leipzig 1916-1923, Berlin 1954ff.; KUB = Keilschrifturkunden aus Boğazköy, Berlin 1921ff.; CTH = Emmanuel Laroche, Catalogue des textes hittites, Paris 1971, with supplements in Revue hittite et asianique 30 (1972), pp. 94-133 and Revue hittite et asianique 33 (1973), pp. 68-71)].
