Size and volume of excavations
The excavations in J2 spanned over thirty 5x5m loci, for a total exposed are of 500 square meters. Some were eventually subsumed under other units (k33, k43, k53 and k54 in Unit J3; k92, k82, k83, k84, k85 in unit J4 and J6) or were only shallow excavations. The majority of the excavations concentrated in an area of about 200 square meters focusing on the area of the monumental access. In some places the excavations reached a depth of 5 meters below the surface. An estimated 750 cubic meters were excavated across J2.
