Summary | 2010-08-07 | cJC | This feature is the north baulk of k5. It was a very high baulk. The top portion was excavated with the big pick while the lower portion was more carefully excavated to recover any more bones that might be associated with the human skull. This feature is a mix of natural accumulations and brickfall. The baulk is 1 meter thick, extending 2 meters E-W and is 3 meters deep. [Input: U807CJC.j] |

Description (summary) | 2008-08-26 | cJC | North baulk in k5. This baulk is primarily composed of natural accumulations covering brickfall. It was excavated it one piece down to about 50 cm above the bottom where it was excavated with the small pick to recover as many bones as possible as a skull (i3) was found close by. 2008-08-26 | lR | human remains found in animal q-lots within brickfall includes: one rib fragment, right 5th metatarsal, one phalanx, and fragments of the cranium. [Input: U913CJC.j] |
3. STRATIGRAPHY
Recovery/Assignment
Roster | Date | Author | Record |
---|---|---|---|
Strategy (projected or implemented) | 2010-08-07 | cJC | As it was one of the last features excavated during the season it had to be removed quickly and was thus taken down all as one piece rather than in smaller features. This resulted in a mixing of brickfall and natural accumulations but as we had the stratified deposits from k4 and k5 we did not think it was necessary to excavate the baulk in small sections. Problems in recording | 2010-08-07 | cJC | At the end of MZ21 the records for this feature were lost. They have been reconstructed here from complimentary records such as q-logs, dailys and relays. [Input: U807CJC.j] |

Notes on analogical record | 2010-08-18 | cJC | No specific picture was taken of this feature but in v31 you can see the large freestanding baulk of k5. It is composed of brickfall and is mishapen due to the cut of the trench. [Input: U818CJC.j] |
