Stratigraphy

Phase 6z comprises deteriorated bricks from the walls of abandoned Khabur period structures just under the tell surface. It does not include bricks from the walls of the much earlier Akkadian period palace walls such as brickfall (f489) from wall (f520)

Only Stratum 210 comprises this phase. The brickfall can be related to two extant walls systems. The brickfall in loci k11 and k100 comes from the northern extension of a long brick wall (f377) that runs along the east baulk of A15. The brickfall associated with Khabur buildings to the west comes from the walls of excavated buildings.

Typology

Ceramics and items from these features are fully analyzed and cataloged. With the exception of a few lithic and clay artifacts, the vast majority of items were pottery sherds.
