We started excavating its topsoil, f56, which looks chunky and soft. In the topsoil we found a distinctive pottery sherd, that is decorated with unclear shapes that might be part of scorpion or snake, q83.

After removing the topsoil, f56, we found a natural accumulation, f68. The new feature was soft and chunky. In the western border of this locus we found a new line of stones, f71, that sits in the last mentioned accumulation. We photographed this new feature after cleaning it, v43. To the east of this stone installation we found a new layer that was full of fist-sized stones and pottery sherds. It may be a floor associated with stones, f71.

After removing the natural accumulation, f75, which covered the stone installation, f91, that runs north-south in the middle of this locus, we noticed two separate natural accumulations - one on its eastern side, f93, and one on the western side, f92. We didn`t excavate the western natural accumulation, f92, today. So we started to remove the natural soft accumulation of f93 with the big pick. We uncoverd a new row of stones while excavating f93. After removing the natural accumulation of f93, which only covered the lower part of stone installation, f91, we found a new soft lamination, f95. The last mentioned feature is free of pottery sherds, pebbles and inclusions.

We photographed the whole locus after cleaning it, v52, to show the relationship between the different levels of stone installations in it, f71, f73 and f91. We removed the rest of the compact lamination, f95, in the eastern border of this locus. Under the last mentioned feature we found a new layer, f97, of compact crust probably formed by melted brick. We stopped excavating in this locus, while waiting to remove the northern baulk in order to understand the relationship between the stone installations in k44 and k43. Excavating the western half of the last mentioned baulk would help us to explane the gap between the stones, f71, and the northern border, where we found a baked red mudbrick. Also the pottery sherds which we will collect may help us recognize the phase of the highest stone installations in k44, f28, and in k43, f71.

Finished excavating the north baulk of this locus. We found that the stone installations f28 in k44 and f71 were linked by a threshold, f163. Although the bottom rows of stone installations f49 in k44 and f91 in k43 were continuous across the baulk, the top rows were not.

We photographed the threshold, f163 (v112), that connects the stone installations, f28 and f49, in k44 from the stone installation, f71 and f91, in k43.
