2005-08-08	jW	Placed elevator into k101 in preparation for use tomorrow after wiring completed in afternoon. [Input: P808JW.j]
2005-08-08	jW	Elevator operational. Allowed substantial increase in efficiency, increasing speed of excavation by 50% from accumulations more than 2 meters below the surface. Used 2 picks and 4 removal, with backdirt loaded directly onto trailers by the elevator. [Input: P809JW.j]
2005-08-10	jW	Elevator operational. However, it stopped in mid-morning and was repaired after breakfast by Anwar. At his suggestion we began passing dirt down from k12 in addition to using it to remove dirt from k101, where it is situated. [Input: P810JW2.j]
2005-08-11	jW	At the suggestion of mO, rigged a pipe to carry dirt from k12 to mouth of the elevator and thence directly to a trailer for removal from the site. Overall efficiency much improved as compared to lifting the dirt by bucket to wheelbarrows which carry it to a dump which must be periodically shoveled into the removal trailer. [Input: P811JW.j]

2005-08-17	jW	Re-installed elevator in k12. At the direction of mKB, stopped the use of the sifter to retrieve objects from the backdirt from the excavation of the typological column at the end of the day. [Input: P817JW.j]
2005-08-18	jW	Removed the dirt elevator from k12 so that we could excavate the entirety of accumulation, f38, overlaying bakhia terrace, f50. No impact on overall removal because we were doing fine work in the entire unit which produced little back dirt. [Input: P818JW1.j]
2005-08-22	jW	In excavating topsoil in k103, a pickman accidentally cut the unmarked, buried power cable for the elevators. No one was injured and the cable was quickly spliced back into operation. [Input: P822JW.j]
2005-08-25	jW	Re-installed the elevator in k12 to lift the dirt removed from the locus of the probe behind the wall, k104. In order to protect the bakhia surface of the terrace, f50, we covered it with a cotton cloth and founded the scoop on several burlap bags filled with dirt. [Input: P825JW.j]

2005-09-05	jW	After a false start occasioned by a lack of fuel for the compressor, the jackhammer was used effectively in k103 for much of the day to excavate the hard, dense accumulation, f63, and the concrete-like accumulation, f76, below. [Input: P905JW.j]
