Size and volume of excavations
The area excavated in A6 is about a depth of 2.5 meters below the royal quarter. The excavations could be divided into 2 stages, the first one proceeded to remove the topsoil, clarify the stratigraphic of the AK building, and pass through the intermediate phases of the earlier 2nd-millennium occupation in the unit, where it had secondary modifications such as the wall of f44 above f78 in k217 and the secondary wall above the southern wall of k218. The second stage was to go down to reach the original floors of the 3rd-millennium occupation which provided access to reach the top of the AK building walls so the excavations in k22 and k25 went deeper levels and the loci k30 and k31 reached the level of the AK walls. A wealth of information through seal impressions in addition to the tannur, andiron, and the drainage system at the original floors has appeared. The excavations added the details of stratigraphy and improved our sense of the building’s architecture: kitchen D1, Iwan D2, and storage D3.
