Stratigraphy

This phase represents the first of the two build up layers of the tell surface in J4, the second one being h85. It mainly consists of adjacent or concecutive air and water born natural accumulations (f67, f90). This phase, dated to the Late Mittani period, shows no evidence of human activities or use.

the fact that f55 is a feature belonging to the erosion of the tell surface; the presence of melted bricks could be related with the fact that probably the erosion of the tell mound is mixed with structures perhaps located ad higer elevation in locus k62-k72,k73 or k63 or with part of the accumulations belonging to ‘dump^1’, a brick-melt accumulation, that interested J04 unit in the Late Mittani Period. f63 lower portion dump. f103 is a brick-melt accumulation, as visible in v100, and is probably part of the dump^1, the brick-melt accumulation found throughout the whole J06 unit which spread in the S portion of J04 area as well. Some isolated limestones f91 f104 f108 f110.

Typology

Mittani, but some Khabur and Phase 4 ceramics mixed in f58 f60 Pottery recevered is mixed, probably due to events of surface erosion ( q115, q117 and q118 are Mittani; q122 and q125 are Khabur mixed with Mittani; q123 is Mittani mixed with phase 4 sherds, cfr. Q830mKB file)
