Stratigraphy

Phase 7v encompasses the last Mittani efforts to maintain the sacred function of the north staircase and plaza leading to abandonment. Stratum 120 marked abandonment. It consisted mainly of accumulations containing Mittani ceramics (f75) and simple arrangements of stones.

In Stratum 122, accumulations (f30) built up in the plaza and covered the ceremonial staircase (^strc1).

In the time period covered by Stratum 128 the sacred area was remodeled, probably with limited resources. The efforts included adding a line of capstones (f192) to the mid-Mittani revetment wall (f3).

Note: not all features mentioned are shown in the accompanying photograph.
