After cleaning in f8 we noticed that there were large chunks of reddish and gray bricks. We now think that we are excavating brickfall rather than accumulation and wadi wash. It is also curious that in the E section, divided by the wadi channel, the southern half appears to consist of ash lenses and gray accumulation. Today we are excavating in f75, the accumulation above a floor surface. We followed the brick apron f85 down to the bottom and found large stones and then a large pebble and sherd pavement, f86. We are continuing to excavate in this accumulation to uncover the whole extent of the floor. Right now there is a patch of f71, probably the same floor in k12, and a large patch in k11 that are not yet contiguous. There might also be a connection to the north in A16 where there is a compacted floor surface with very small pebbles and sherds. [Input: L714okk.j] |
