Stratigraphy

Phase 9m contains the topsoil layer and the first accumulation under it.

Stratum 20 (topsoil) is the topmost layer of permanent soil on the tell. It is distinguished by the fact that it contains decayed plant matter.

Stratum 30 (accumulations) consists of the most recent soil deposits (usually aolean and sometimes compacted by precipitation). Stones displaced by erosion and moved by water are often found in these layers.
