Description (summary) 2010-03-05 sC 150 has been assigned to a melted brick layer which is located within k100, below f121. This feature consists of a deposit where it is not possible to recognize individual bricks but in which it is clear that the soil matrix consists of bricky material. f150, as f121, slopes sharply toward the south portion of the locus, as visible in v84 and v84a, and is dark red in colour. Its top-most surface is very compact, but, once removed it is very soft and fine in texture; f150 is very wet. [Input: U305SC.j]

Recovery/Assignment

Roster Date Author Record
Lack of expected information 2010-03-07 sC As said, f150 was characterized by the presence of brick fragments. These were concentrated particulary in a small area close to the N section of k100 (70cm W and 50cm S from r89); a general and a particular view of this part of the feature were taken, but unlucky both viewa are unfocused. The general view is v82, while the tide view on the bricks is v82a; a tide shot was taken to part of the feature where some ash mixed with brick fragments were noticed, v82b. Unlucky, all these photos are not well focused. [Input: U306SC.j]
Evolution 2010-03-31 sC Thanks to the excavations carried out in k100 in 2008 and 2009 (during these excavation seasons k100 was incorporated within J06 unit as k84), it has been possible to understand the nature of J04 f150, J04 f158 and J04 f160 (and partially the lowest portion of f121), i.e., the layers found while doing the deep sounding in J04 k100. As seen, J04 f150, J04 f158 and J04 f160 are the same of J6f164 which is a glacis layer (cfr. J06^glacis 3) made to protect a stone wall located on the west, J02 f129. The pottery recovered within J6f164 revealed Chalcolithic sherds, dating this and other layers related with this (cfr. for example, J06 f158, J06 f168, J06 f164 and all the features within s49 in J06 unit) back to the 3rd millennium BC (cfr. analysis of the pottery on S901 by MKB) thus revealing that in this portion of the tell mound 3rd millennium BC layers were located right below Mittani accumulations. [Input: U331SC.j]
Notes on recovery 2010-03-05 sC f150 slopes toward the south portion of the locus, as visible in v84 and v84a; for this reason there is a difference between its top elevation in the north portion of the locus from the top elevation in the south portion of k100: there are approximately 15cm of difference in elevation. The bottom elevation of f150 reported in the 'Volumetric localization' has been taken in the N portion of the locus (the top elevation in the bottom portion of the locus is therefore lower, around 90.43). Stratigraphic reasons of assignment 2010-03-10 sC Assignment based on similarity with dateable feature and on pottery analysis (cfr. mKB S901). f150 is the same as f164 in J06, which belongs to stratum 49. [Input: U310SC.j]
Typological reasons for assignment 2008-08-16 mKB date determined by looking at shapes and decoration only; pottery q lots will receive a full analysis at a later time. Date unclear based on the mixed nature of the ceramics and based on preliminary examination of shapes and decoration [Input: S831mKB.j]
