Stratigraphy

A line of stones, f284, under a rebuilt portion (f189) of the main revetment wall is the only element of Phase 2m (Stratum 850) which has been excavated to date. It neither conforms to the alignment of the f189 wall nor the earlier wall and escarpment system, ^esc1.
It has been tentativly assigned to the Late Chalcolithic period, but so little of it has been exposed that it is impossible to assign a specific construction date.

Typology

We excavated an accumulation, f287, located between f284 and the stone escarpment, hoping that there would be ceramics to give some evidence of when the wall was in use. Three q-lots, q463, q470, and q477 were recovered, but no diagnostic ceramics were found in them. A carbon sample, q463.1, was also excavated but unfortunately touched, ruining its capability to yield a meaningful date.
